This week, there was a lot of back-and-forth around federal funding and research operations, and here’s what you need to know.
On January 27, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) issued a memo saying that many federal agencies needed to temporarily pause certain grant programs. The idea was to review programs in light of recent executive orders. But just two days later, on January 29, that memo was officially rescinded, meaning the pause on grants is now lifted.
So, what does that mean for us? Well, the pause is no longer in effect, but federal agencies are still going to be reviewing grants to make sure they follow the executive orders. Some other pauses announced earlier are still in place, but for the most part, research operations can return to normal.
Grant submission portals are still up and running, and our Sponsored Programs team continues to process everything as usual. If anything is affecting your work due to these changes, please let us know by sending an email to research@mst.edu.
Thanks for your patience, and we’ll keep you updated with any new developments!
