Missouri S&T Student Recognized for Heroic Lifesaving Act

This week Missouri S&T student Alexander Touami was awarded the Missouri S&T University Police Life-Saving Award for his remarkable act of bravery and quick thinking on March 13, 2025.

While near Interstate 44, Alexander witnessed a visitor on campus being struck by a semi-truck and left critically injured in the roadway. Without hesitation and with complete disregard for his own safety, Alexander ran into oncoming traffic to reach the individual. He pulled the injured person to safety, called 911, and stayed by their side, providing vital information to first responders and supporting the individual until medical help arrived.

His courage and selflessness reflect the highest values of leadership, service, and humanity. Missouri S&T Chief of Police Doug Roberts wrote in his nomination, “Alexander’s quick thinking and decisive actions prevented further harm and enabled emergency personnel to administer timely medical care.”

Alexander Touami’s actions remind us that everyday heroism lives among us, and sometimes walks right on campus. We commend him and celebrate this well-deserved award.
