This week marks the invitation to submit preliminary proposals for the 2026 MoExcels Workforce Initiative, focusing on high-level project ideas rather than full project plans. The MoExcels Initiative, led by the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD), is dedicated to expanding employer-driven education and training programs, with the goal of significantly enhancing educational attainment and aligning educational opportunities with workforce demands across Missouri.
Each year, MoExcels funding supports impactful initiatives at public colleges and universities, with an emphasis on sustainable, standalone projects that address the state’s workforce needs. This year’s preliminary submission deadline is Friday, November 15, by COB. The earlier timeline allows MDHEWD to provide the Governor-elect with essential project insights, assisting in strategic funding decisions as they transition into office.
Missouri S&T’s MoExcels Project for FY 2025
In FY 2025, Missouri S&T, in partnership with East Central College and St. Charles Community College, secured $9.1 million for the Bridging the Missouri Manufacturing Critical Skills Gap project. This collaborative initiative addresses skill shortages in manufacturing, expanding career pathways and learning opportunities for traditionally underserved populations. This funding reflects a substantial investment in Missouri’s manufacturing workforce and highlights MoExcels’ commitment to targeted workforce development.
We look forward to the 2026 proposals and the opportunity to support transformative educational programs through the MoExcels Initiative, contributing to Missouri’s evolving workforce landscape. Please reach out with proposal ideas or to learn more.
