The search for Missouri S&T’s next Provost will officially begin next week. This marks the start of an important process to identify a visionary leader who will help shape the future of our university.
The search committee will be co-chaired by Sue Simmons, Trustee and Kummer Missouri S&T Foundation Board Member, and Mehrzad Boroujerdi, Vice Provost and Dean for the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education.
Next week, the Chancellor, alongside the Co-Chairs, will invite members from across our campus community to join the committee. This committee will comprise a diverse representation of staff, faculty, and students, ensuring that a wide range of perspectives is included in the selection process. On Monday, November 18, the Chancellor will convene a meeting to formally charge the committee with its responsibilities and objectives.
In October, it was announced that Dr. Colin Potts, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, will retire at the end of the 2024-25 academic year. Since joining Missouri S&T in 2021, Dr. Potts has been a transformative leader, overseeing significant growth and innovation in Academic Affairs. Under his guidance, the university has launched the Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development, introduced new degree programs, and expanded our faculty ranks for the first time in over a decade. His commitment to excellence has left an indelible mark on Missouri S&T, and we are deeply grateful for his contributions.
