Subject: Lafayette in Persia!

Summary: This week’s message honors the legacy of Dr. Samuel Martin Jordan, a pioneering American educator who dedicated his life to global education. Known as “Lafayette in Persia,” Dr. Jordan established the American College of Tehran in 1889, which later evolved into Alborz High School, the standard of excellence in Iran and a foundation for higher education. Chancellor Dehghani reflects on Dr. Jordan’s impact, connecting it to Missouri S&T’s efforts to inspire future educators and support K-12 teaching through programs like the DEWEY Award, Miners in the Making, and the Kummer Center for STEM Education. On this International Day of Education, we celebrate the past, present, and future of transformative education.
